Bio & Contact
Hello-
I’m an artist currently living and workin in San Francisco with my wonderful twin 2 1/2 year old daughters, Juniper and Scarlett, and their mother, and awesome artist Erin Althea. I grew up in San Diego drawing comics, eating vegan food, and going to shows as much as possible. In 2005 I moved to Los Angeles and in 2007 I got my BFA in illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Since graduating 5 years ago I have been illustrating, and sometimes writing for print, animation, apparel, product, interactive media, and have had my work shown in galleries all over. It’s been a lot of fun!
Partial Client List includes: Leo Burnett, Buck, Encyclopedia Pictura, Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Runner’s World, Nylon, Swindle Magazine, VICE, Baltimore MAgazine, Chronicle Books, Fantagraphics, Nobrow, At&T, Discovery Channel, Time Warner Cable, Village Voice, The Stranger, LA Weekly, SF Weekly, Buster Design, White Noise Studio, Tiny Showcase, Threadless Select.
Some of my inspirations and influences include: riding my bike, camping, audiobooks, comicbooks, peter doig, daniel johnston, john kennedy toole, pavement, vegan chorizo burritos, henry darger, this american life, charles schultz, guaguin, herzog, emma goldman, jean-luc goddard, and jean-luc picard.

[…] Mike Bertino is an artist extraordinaire living the dream in the city of angels. His comics and illustrations are colorful and at times a little crude, but they certainly have an endearing quality. Make sure you check out Mike’s quarky and lovable work on his website and blog. […]
